This tiny Net Loft,
recently renovated and refurbished, is situated next door to, but not
adjoining, Treen Lane Cottage. Although entirely self contained it is
ideal for use in conjunction with Treen Lane Cottage. There are glorious
views from the bedroom and from the lounge across the rooftops of Mousehole,
the harbour, and Mounts Bay, as far as the Lizard peninsular.
Mousehole is situated
on the south-east coast of the beautiful Penwith peninsular of Cornwall.
It is sheltered from the prevailing winds and overlooks Mount’s
Bay, St. Michael’s Mount and the Lizard peninsular. Originally
a small fishing port, Mousehole is today a picturesque village clustered
around a harbour and is a maze of granite and slate cottages, narrow
winding streets and cobbled alleyways. Within the harbour there are
two small sandy beaches. The village also has two larger pebble beaches
with granite rocks and rock-pools.
Mousehole has several
small shops including a grocers, newsagents and post office. It also
has a fine selection of craft shops and art galleries, and many of the
crafts and paintings are produced by local artists. There is also a
choice of tearooms and restaurants. There are two pubs, a fish &
chip shop, a chapel, and the famous hospital for wild birds. A regular
bus runs to nearby Newlyn and Penzance (from where a ferry, the Scillonian,
can be caught to the Isles of Scillies) and many ‘beauty spots’
including St. Ives and Lands End. Rugged coastal footpaths lead westward
from the village to Lamorna Cove, and eastward to the bustling fishing
port of Newlyn.
